Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua located in Venice since 1700, is currently situated in Riva di Biasio along the Grand Canal.
In the wake of the old silk-making tradition of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, which employed the looms currently in use, the company continues to produce fabrics, using the same tools, the same techniques and the same high quality required by the Doges. The similarity with the past is so close that it is difficult to distinguish our product from one made centuries ago.
Technical know-how and experience have been handed down from one generation to another to members of the family. Carefully guarding these, they have kept alive the tradition that saw Venice become the most important centre of production and trade during the Renaissance, where merchants arrived in search of the finest and most popular fabrics in the world.
The sole Italian producer of soprarizzo velvet, Bevilacqua jealously conserves its immense archive of designs, with over 3,500 well-conserved samples – all available for customers to consult. What is more, every year some of the traditional designs are re-presented in new and more modern colour combinations.
